Coming out of hibernation...

It's been awhile...I've been hiding.
Winter was absolutely awful on so many levels.
It's all over now, praise the lord of small mercies...and the golf course that my studio overlooks is turning green.
I have a very full home...four people and four cats.
I call it the elastic-apartment...it just stretches and stretches to fit in everything that I want.
It's amazing what a bit of rain and a few blossoms can do for my soul.
I feel lighter and clearer than I have in ages....

Working on a set of little Theatre-set drawings, very sweet.

a real writer

I just read a blog post by a friend of mine who is a writer.
How beautifully her words pour themselves onto her pages.
Blogs should be for writers.....not artists

This illustration was made in celebration of a Pearl Wedding Anniversary.

It contains personal details of the couple's 30 years of marriage, including children, grandchildren, wedding date, holiday home, hobbies, interests, first car, countries of birth, careers etc...
and was commissioned as a gift from the wife to her husband.

The size of the original artwork is 200mm x 170mm.
It is a mixed-media on paper including pen, coloured inks, aquarelle pencils, metallic inks, glitter and gum arabic.

rubbish

I realize now that actually....I hate blogging and I'm really rubbish at it.
How do I find my way in this strange world...

Lost in my own oblivion

I'm lost today.

I'm busy-busy with a wedding commission..a "His and Hers" suit and dress.
There's a lot of personalised information to incorporate; a lot of expectation riding and a very pedantic bride.

I've sat in thought all day and most of last night wondering where did I lose my way again.
When did I make the relationship more important than myself...when did I get so scared to be myself.

My first ever...

Here I go.....
my first ever blog entry!
It's all a bit daunting to this self-confessed computer illiterate, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it sooner or later.
